Otto Powderkeg was a Rat in Ghost of a Tale. He was a pirate, and the captain of the Lake Witch for twelve years, alongside his navigator, Kerold Redwhiskers. His skeleton can be found chained up in a cellar after the Jail Master Key is obtained. His skeleton has the Pirate Hat and the Pirate Eyepatch, which are necessary for A Pirate's Infamy.

History[]

Otto Powderkeg was a notorious pirate who would supposedly light his own tail on fire before going into battle, earning him his name. He would also print his own wanted posters to bolster his renown. He was captured when the Lake Witch wrecked against submerged rocks on the eastern shore of Lake Vaelia, and was imprisoned in Dwindling Heights Keep for piracy years before the game's story takes place.

It is revealed during Curse of the Green Flame that Otto survived the wreck of the Lake Witch, which had caused the brisance aboard to explode and destroy many of the cursed crystals that the ship carried from the Isle of Periclave. He then took on the guise of a smithy, calling himself Rolo.

Otto, under the guise of Rolo, killed the Jailer of the keep to protect the secret of his buried treasure – a chest filled with cursed crystals from Periclave that destroyed his crew.

When Silas is going to be hanged for the murder of the Jailer, Otto reveals himself and helps him and Tilo escape. The three go to the Bone Shore and are able to destroy the crystals in the chest with brisance. Otto promises to help Gusto, Fatale, and Silas warn the Council of the Red Paw of the return of the Green Flame.
